Hi, I’m Kimberly Murrell.
I’m a 22 year old student from Flinders University.
I am currently in my fourth year of a combined Education and Arts degree (Middle/Secondary). I major in Visual Arts and minor in both History and English.
I am interested in all mediums and theories in Visual Art and am proud to say that I have tried them all. However, if I had to choose a favourite medium I would choose relief printing with linoleum blocks as I have found that this practice is quite relaxing and you can allow your imagination to flow.
I have mainly studied War history, but i’m always willing to improve my knowledge in other aspects of history.
I studied a variety of English topic, and found that the topic I enjoyed the most was Adaptations of Literature. Where we studied the various techniques used to adapt a written piece into a film.
My placement experience started when I was placed at Aberfoyle Park High School with a class of year 8 students. Since then I have been placed at Tenison Woods College in a year 6 class, where I taught Geography, English and Religion. For my last placement I was at Modbury High School, where I taught History, English and Visual Arts to years 8,9 and 10. I learnt quite a lot on these placements and came away with many ideas and strategies that I will be able to implement into my very own classroom one day.
During my free time I like to continue my development in Visual Arts and take part in various sporting and social activities. I also like to call myself an avid traveller, as I have travelled to many different parts of the world, with many countries still on my list of places to experience.
